Comments: John Claudius Loudon (Nee: ) | Scotland | 1835-1850 | Comments: This portrait of John Claudius Loudon appears on page 501 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.25, no.12, December, 1902. Please see that reference for more details. There is a biographical essay on him on pages 501-503 of that volume. He is called "father of horticultural journalism." He was born in Scotland in 1782, son of a farmer. He died in 1843. Also see wikipedia for more details. That is all the information I have on this picture.
