Comments: Alice Mae Eves (Nee: Estey) | Los Angeles CA United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old photograph of Vernon and Alice ESTEY which appears to have been taken in the early 1900's in a rocking chair on the front porch of a house. There is no studio or location noted on the photograph. The two children appear to be infant to about 2 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the children and their family: Vernon Leroy ESTEY was b. 13 July 1904 in Little Falls, MN and Alice Mae ESTEY was b. 21 Feb 1906 in Los Angeles County, CA to parents Isaac “Ike” Hobbs ESTEY (1876-1949) and Junietta “Junie” or “Juni” Etta DRIVER (1883-1969). The couple had 5 children including Sylvia L.; Vernon; Alberta Marie; Alice Mae; and Gertrude Elizabeth ESTEY all born between 1902 and 1908. Their father was married previously and had 5 additional children including Mary Jessie; Clara Julia; Frank Percy; Rose S.; and William Leigh ESTEY, all born between 1889 and 1897. Vernon married Phoebe Ellen ROBINSON, and they had a son Edwin Leroy ESTEY (1927-1998) and a daughter, Betty Mae ESTEY MARQUEZ (1930-2000 or 2002) and two other children. Vernon was living in Los Angeles, CA during the 1910 census and in Culver City, CA during the World War I and II drafts and was working for Select Tile in Hollywood, CA. Vernon died 23 Dec 1964 in Los Angeles County, CA. Alice married Mr. EVES, and she died 26 Dec 1994 in Los Angeles County, CA and is buried in the Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery in Monrovia, CA.
