Comments: Lyle Edward Gould (Nee: ) | Saratoga Springs NY United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have two old studio photographs belonging to the GOULD Family and taken in Saratoga, NY at the Gould Studio. The first photograph is of Clarence Orba GOULD born 28 Jul 1880. A note on the back states that the photograph was "made on albumen paper made by G. E. GOULD finished on hot burnisher".
I believe that G. E. GOULD was also Clarence's father. Clarence appears to be about 8 years old at the time the photograph was taken. The second photograph is identified as Lyle E. GOULD and was taken at the Gould Studio in Saratoga, NY as well. Lyle appears to be about 6 years old at the time the photograph was taken.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this GOULD Family:
Clarence Orba GOULD was b. 28 Jul 1880 in South Lyon, MI or North Liberty, IN to parents Gilbert E. GOULD (1857-1942) and Hannah A. ROOT (1861-1953). Clarence had two siblings, a brother Lyle Edward GOULD (1882-1957) and a sister Corda Elva or Eloa GOULD WILCOX (1886-1981). Clarence was living in Beverly Hills, CA and died 5 Mar 1951 in Glendale, CA and is buried in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA.
Lyle Edward GOULD was b. 2 Jun 1882 in Northville, MI to the same parents and in 1900 was living in Saratoga Springs, NY with his mother and sister at the Saratoga Home for Children where he was listed as an Artist and his mother a Photographer in census records as follows:
Hannah GOULD, a widow, age 38, 3 children/3 living, born MI, parents born NY/MI
Lyle E. GOULD, son, age 17, born MI, parents born MI
Corda E. GOULD, dau, age 13, born NY, parents born MI
Lyle married Mable Lura GILSON (1889-1947) on 19 Sept 1906 in Glens Falls, NY and they had three children including William Lyle; Evelyn Cora; and Ruth Ethel GOULD, all born between 1907 and 1913. In 1942 according to draft records was living in the Alms House in Ritchie, MD and was unemployed. Lyle died 10 Jun 1957 in Washington, DC.
