Comments: Jeremiah Wesley Webb (Nee: ) | Mossy Creek VA United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of J. Wesley WEBB which was taken at the Blakemore Studio in Staunton, VA. I'm guessing that it was taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Wesley appearing to be in his 60's at the time. In addition to his name, someone has written "The face of a friend" on the back of the photograph.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Wesley and his family:
Rev. Jeremiah Wesley WEBB was b. 5 Jun 1826 in Mossy Creek, VA to parents Jeremiah Asa WEBB (1764-1838) and Catherine or Catharine E. AILSHIRE or ALESHIRE or ALESHYRE (1786-1855) who were married 27 Mar 1804 in Augusta County, VA. Wesley was one of 10 children born to this couple including Jacyntha; John Huckaby; John C.; Hannah Moffett; Mary “Maria” Martha Miller; James Miller; Henry Jacob Miller; Elizabeth Jane; Jeremiah Wesley; and Samuel Miller WEBB, all born between 1806 and 1820.
Wesley married three times, first to Mary E. SHOEMAKER or SHUMATE (1829-1880) on 19 Nov 1851 in Virginia and they had 7 children including Lucy C.; Harriet or Harriett “Hattie” Elizabeth; Virginia H.; Anna M.; William R.; James; and Nellie L. WEBB, all born between 1853 and 1870.
His second marriage was to Ernestine JOHNSON (1847-1887) on 28 Dec 1886 in Taylor County, WV and his third marriage was to Mary “Mollie” Virginia SHINN (1864-1950) who he married on 6 Nov 1890 in Harrison County, WV. Wesley and his third wife Mollie had a daughter, Ruth Mary WEBB (1895-1939) and Wesley died 5 Nov 1897 in Huntington, WV.
