Comments: Sarah Margaret Jeffreys (Nee: Brown) | Bulls Gap TN United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph identified as Sadie JEFFRIES and Husband which was taken at the Ralph R. Roszell Studio in Beatrice, NE. A note on the photograph says, "my friend". It appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the couple appearing to be in their teens or 20's at the time it was taken.
I believe that this is a photograph of Sarah "Sadie" Margaret BROWN JEFFREYS and her husband William Earl JEFFREYS. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple:
Sarah or Sara “Sadie” Margaret BROWN was b. 17 Oct 1888 in Bull’s Gap, TN to parents David Alexander BROWN (1860-1928 the son of John G. BROWN and Alminta REYNOLDS born at Bull’s Gap, TN) and Eliza or Elizabeth Catherine “Kate” FINK (1871-1898). Sadie was one of 5 children born to this couple including Sadie; Hannah Cora; Frank Jackson; Etta “Etie” Mae; Martha Katherine or Catharine BROWN, all born between 1888 and 1897.
Sadie married William Earl JEFFREYS (1890-1975) on 21 Dec 1912 and they had two daughters, Verda “Verdie” Eleanor JEFFREYS (1914-1973) and Martha Katherine JEFFREYS (1917-1982) and a son, Marion Lester JEFFREYS (1921-1987). The family was living in Rockford, NE during the 1920 census. Margaret died 13 Dec 1957 in Lincoln, NE.
