Comments: Theoda Reliance Taylor (Nee: Witter) | Scipio NY United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph identified as Mrs. Hiram TLAYOR which was taken at the Crocker Studio in Perry, NY sometime in the 1880's. She appears to be in her 70's at the time the photograph was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Theoda Reliance WITTER TAYLOR who was married to Hiram TAYLOR.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Theoda and her family:
Theoda Reliance WITTER was born 1 Apr 1819 in Scipio, NY to parents Ebenezer WITTER III (1788-1853) and Lovisa or Louisa or Lovina REED (1794-1877) who were married 31 Jan 1813. Theoda was one of 10 children born to this couple including Julia Maria or Marie; Alvin Reed; Ebenezer IV; Theoda Reliance; Lovisa Mary Jane; Lucinda Reed; Zerviah or Zervia or Serviah or Surviah Ursula; Martha; Florilla S.; Frederick Spaulding; and Harriet “Hattie” Amanda WITTER, all born between 1813 and 1843.
Theoda married Hiram TAYLOR (1823-1902 son of Job TAYLOR (1793-1878) and Amelia WALDO (1797-1875)) on 4 Jan 1846 in Perry, NY, and they had three children including Alfred; Cora Jane; and Hattie Amanda TAYLOR, all born between 1848 and 1862. Theoda previously married Cary Bell REED (1807-1843) in Scipio, NY in 1840 and they had a son, Alva D. REED (b. 1841).
Theoda died in 1905 in La Grange or Covington, NY and is buried in La Grange, NY.
