Descendants can be traced from the two brothers who first settled in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin after arriving from Germany. The brothers are Frederich Schwanke and Daniel Gottlieb Schwanke. I believe this young man may be wearing some sort of band uniform (community or military?). This photo was in the collection I inherited from my Schwanke grandmother.
