Comments: Rebecca Stanbery (Nee: Finley) | Belton MO United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph including Great Grandma STANBERY (which I believe is Rebecca FINLEY STANBERY), Alice HORRIDGE, Les HORRIDGE, and Nellie HORRIDGE which was taken at the Bullock Studio in Belton, MO. The photograph identifies Alice as "Aunt", and Les as "Dad's cousin" and Nellie as "Les' daughter". In addition, someone has written "Check Grandma Jerard's sister Maude who died years before the others", not clear on what is being referenced with that comment.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this STANBERY or STANBURY or STANBERRY family:
Rebecca FINLEY was b. 31 May 1830 in Washington County, PA to parents David FINLEY (1805-1898) and Jane ALEXANDER (1811-1834) who were married in 1829 in McConnelsville, OH. Rebecca had two siblings, a brother Alexander FINLEY (1828-1902) and a sister Eliza Jane FINLEY (1832-1915). Rebecca married Perley Jones STANBERY (1830-1910) in Morgan County, OH on 30 or 31 Oct 1850, and they had the three children outlined below. Rebecca died 7 May 1911 in Belton, MO and is buried in the Belton Cemetery in Belton, MO
Alice STANBERRY was b. 13 Jul 1852 in Zanesville, OH to parents Perley or Perly Jones STANBERY (1830-1910) and Rebecca FINLEY (1830-1911) who were married 30 Oct 1850 in Morgan County, OH. Alice had three siblings, sisters Hannah E. STANBERY (b. 1854); Mary “Mamie” E. STANBERY IMUS (1861-1887); and Merta “Mertie” Helen STANBERY HOMAN (1867-1950). Alice married John Wesley HORRIDGE (1853-1926) about 1877 and they had the three children outlined below. After her husband died, she married Edward Joseph DUVAL. Alice died 4 Dec 1933 in Prairie Township, Jackson County, MO and she is buried in the Belton Cemetery in Belton, MO.
Leslie Arthur HORRIDGE was b. 11 Dec 1880 in Jackson County, MO to parents John W. HORRIDGE (1853-1926) and Alice STANBERRY (1852-1933). Leslie had two siblings, brothers Perle Arnold HORRIDGE (1878-1949) and Carl S. HORRIDGE (1886-1929). Leslie married Maude CLENDENEN (1882-1980) on 15 Nov 1905 in Cass County, MO and they had two children including Nellie and her brother outlined below. Leslie died 29 Jun 1963 in Lee’s Summit, MO and he is buried in the Belton Cemetery in Belton, MO.
Nellie May HORRIDGE was b. 21 Apr 1907 in Lee’s Summit, MO to parents Leslie A. HORRIDGE (1880-1963) and Maude CLENDENEN or CLEVEDENING (1882-1980). Nellie had one brother, Robert John Glen HORRIDGE (1911-1930). Nellie married Noah Ernest PINE (1903-1981) on 21 or 23 May 1949 in Kansas City, MO. Nellie died 5 Feb 1995 in Lee’s Summit, MO and is buried in the Belton Cemetery in Belton, MO.
