Comments: Samuel Ayres (Nee: ) | Trenton NJ United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of Samuel AYRES which was taken at the A. G. Beer Studio in Trenton, NJ. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Samuel likely in his 20's at the time it was taken. A note on back says "My Father" and "Born 5 Oct 1860, Died 28 Jan 1937" and "Samuel AYRES Jr. 77 No. Bridge St, Somerville, NJ". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Samuel and his family:
Samuel AYRES was b. 5 Oct 1860 in Franklin Township, Somerset, NJ to parents Peter AYRES (1824-1901) and Mary Elizabeth VAN CLEEF or VAN CLUF (1824-1912) who were married 25 Mar 1851 in Franklin, NJ. Samuel was one of 9 children born to this couple including Sarah “Sallie” VanCleef; Samuel; Isaac VanCluf or Van Cleef; Mary Adaline; Jane Adeline; Peter; Mary “Minnie”; Elizabeth “Lizzie”; and Clinton Eugene AYRES, all born between 1858 and 1875.
Samuel was married to Cornelia M. FISHER (1860-1937) on 29 Jul 1885 and they had two children including Flora Fisher AYRES NOLAN (1887-1947) and Samuel AYRES Jr. (1890-1962). Samuel Sr. died 28 Jan 1937 and is buried in the Amwell Ridge Cemetery in Ringoes, NJ.
