Comments: Victor Orlando Johnson (Nee: ) | Newton KS United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of Victor O. JOHNSON and his baby brother Harold JOHNSON of Newton, KS. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Victor about 4 years old and Harold just an infant. Based on limited research and thanks to assistance of a family genealogist I was able to gather the following information regarding Victor and Harold:
Victor Orlando JOHNSON was b. 26 Jun or Jul 1907 in Newton, KS to parents John Benjamin JOHNSON or JANTZ or JANTZEN (1851-1927) and Helena “Lena” KOEHN or KEHN (1869-1942) who were married 5 Apr 1884 in Harvey County, KS. Victor was one of 12 children born to this family including Myrtle Leona; Lillie; Arthur; Edith; Edward “Ed” John; Benjamin Charles; John Henry; Irwing Bernhart; Ethel Katherene; Gladys Orvilla; Victor Orlando; and Heald JOHNSON, all born between 1886 and 1910. It appears that his father was married previously and had three additional children including Baby Boy; Blanch Pearl; and Andrew JOHNSON, all born between 1873 and 1883.
Victor married Mabel Alma HAWORTH (1915-1985) on 20 Mar 1931 in Orange County, CA. They had a daughter, Dona Marie JOHNSON DACK SLOAN (1932-2012) and the couple divorced in 1933. Victor may have been married a second time to Emma V. (b. 1923). Victor died 4 Aug 1991 in Medford, OR and is buried in the Hawthorne Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grants Pass, OR. His daughter Dona was married to Aubrey SLOAN, and they had three children including Kenneth Lloyd SLOAN b. 1956 and living in Santa Maria, CA at last check.
Harold JOHNSON was b. 26 Sept 1909 in Pawnee Rock, KS the son of John and Lena JOHNSON and he died 20 Jun 1910 in Pawnee Rock, KS at the age of 8 months and is buried in the Pawnee Rock Cemetery in Pawnee Rock, KS.
