Comments: Edward Doubleday Harris (Nee: ) | United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: This photo of Edward Doubleday Harris appears in the Journal of the New York Entomological Society, vol.XXVII, no.3&4, Jun./Sept. 1919, plate 22. There is a four page obit of him there. He was born 20 Sept. 1839 in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Dr. Thaddeus W. Harris (author of "Insects Injurious to Vegetation"). The family was of English descent. He was an architect and worked on many important buildings around NY State. He was also very active in his church, St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church in Yonkers. He was interested in history, genealogy and entomology. He lived for 35 yrs at 224 Palisades ave in Yonkers. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Historical Society, the New England Historical Society and the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and other associations. A biography of him was published in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society's "Record" vol.L, no.3, Jul, 1919, pages 209-211. He died of pneumonia on Sunday 2 March 1919. That is all the information I have. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
