Comments: Christine Norum (Nee: ) | Mandan ND United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of Christine NORUM which was taken at the Welch Studio in Mandan, ND. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890’s or early 1900’s with Christine likely in her 20’s or 30’s at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Christine and her family: Christine C. NORUM was b. 22 Nov 1872 in Gaarden Norum, Norway to parents Ole Anderson NORUM (1840-1900) and Dortea or Dorothea ANDERSON (b. 1845). Christine was one of 7 children born to this couple including Albert Anderson; Christine C.; Annie; Anna Dorothea; Ole Anderson; Emma Marie; and Berta Mathilde NORUM, all born between 1871 and 1884. Christine was living in Portland, OR working as a Cook, Maid, Housekeeper, and Servant including in 1920 when her mother Dorothea NORUM was also residing with her in the private home of James and Anna RILEY. By 1940 she was living in the private home of Aaron M. FRANK and his wife Ruth R. FRANK in Portland, OR as a Servant to the family. The FRANK family was prominent in Portland, owning the largest department store in the State, Meier & Frank. Those census records indicate that they both immigrated to the USA from Norway in 1881. Christine died in Spokane, WA on 19 Sept 1961. Her brother Ole Anderson NORUM was b. 6 May 1880 in Christiana, Norway and died in 1904. Her father Ole NORUM was b. 19 Jul 1840 in Norway and died 2 Jan 1900 in Mandan, ND and is buried there in the Mandan Union Cemetery . Her mother Dorothea ANDERSON was b. 21 Jan 1845 in Norway and died 18 Feb 1934 in Pasadena Park, WA and is buried in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Spokane, WA. When her mother died her obituary listed the following survivors, three daughters including Mrs. J. N. NORLAND or Spokane, WA; Miss Christina NORUM of Portland, OR; and Mrs. M. J. NELSON of Pasadena Park, WA; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Theo NORUM of Kelso, CA; and a sister Mrs. Karen DANIELSON of Mandan, ND. I’d like to get this photograph to a member of her family and would appreciate you reaching out to me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
