Comments: Simon James Barkley (Nee: ) | Barkley Lake NY U.S.A | 1851-1900 | Comments: B: 14 Dec 1838 Staton/Essex Streets, New York City, New York On Monday, December 22nd at his home, Barkley Lake, Wayne County near Narrowsburg, N.Y. occurred the death of Simon J. Barkley, aged 81 years. He had been in falling health for some time. Mr. Barkley was a former resident of the Eleventh and Twelfth Wards in New York City but for the past several years resided in Wayne County having purchased an extensive lake property on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River. Funeral was held Friday and the remains were taken to Somerville, N.J. for interment. Besides his wife, deceased, leaves one daughter, Miss Ida Barkley and two sons, William and Leonard, all of Barkley Lake. (The Wayne Independent - December 27, 1919)
