Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

Please help us keep DeadFred alive. 90% of our expenses are supported by donations averaging $5. Not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, our fundraiser would be done by the time you finish reading this. That's right, the price of a large can of soda would do it.

If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: Franklin Light (Nee: ) | Lima OH United States | 1901-1920 | Comments: ** PLEASE NOTE: Photograph was copied from eBay and I do not have the original, nor any additional information. All identifying information was provided on eBay with the photograph. However, in some cases I may have done a little research on the name and added to the comment field to help a researcher for the photograph. ** FRANKLIN LIGHT: Nice image of a G.A.R. veteran. He is wearing a small round G.A.R. membership button in his lapel and has a large G.A.R ribbon above his left pocket. The ribbon reads "MART AHMSIHONG (?) POST NO. 202 G.A.R. - LIMA, OHIO". Written on the back in pencil is "FRANKLIN LIGHT - 81ST OHIO - 8-31-62 - 7-13-65". Obviously his enlistment and discharge dates. *** NOTE: A little Civil War and census research finds: Service Record: Franklin Light, Enlisted as a Private on 31 August 1862 at the age of 21. Enlisted in Company G, 81st Infantry Regiment Ohio on 31 August 1862. Mustered out Company G, 81st Infantry Regiment Ohio on 13 July 1865 in Louisville, KY. Possibly died about 1916, widow ISABEL/ISABELLE LIGHT. He was shown on census first in Darke County, OH, and then in Lima, Allen County, OH.
