Comments: Mathew Sinclair (Nee: ) | Nephi UT United States | | Comments: Mathew Sinclair (1831-1906) born in Glasgow, Scotland and wife Margaret Shirkey Sinclair (1833-1913) born in Irvin Ayre (sp?), Scotland. They emigrated to America during the Civil War and he was drafted on the Union side. After being told his children had typhoid, he deserted to go home and take care of them. His captain told him to swim across the river at night and their would be dry clothes waiting for him on the other side. After regaining their health, they eventually made their way to Utah.
