Comments: William Strong (Nee: ) | Utah | | Comments: William Strong was born in 1827 in Pennsylvania. He served in 1846 in the Mormon Battalion walking from the area of modern day Omaha south through the mountains of New Mexico on into California. He arrived in San Diego in January 1847. He helped build a sawmill in the Santa Cruz Mountains and continued on to Utah arriving in the fall of 1848. In the summer of 1849, he drove an ox team east to meet his family and help them move on to the Salt Lake Valley. He died in 1888 in Salt Lake City.
