Comments: Ira Nathaniel Hinckley (Nee: ) | UT United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: Ira Nathaniel Hinckley with four of his sons and wife Adelaide Cameron Noble. Picture was taken about 1891-1895. Ira Hinckley is best known as the builder of Cove Fort in Utah and is the great-grandfather of LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley. He descends from Thomas Hinckley, who was governor of Plymouth Colony in the 1600's. His son, Edwin Smith ("E.S.") Hinckley, taught Geology at Brigham Young Academy (now BYU) in Provo, Utah, during the early 20th century, and was counselor to George Brimhall (president of BYA) at that time. He later became the superintendent of the Utah Industrial School in Ogden, Utah.
