Comments: Hillonne Duym (Nee: ) | Kortenberg Brabant Belgium | 1901-1920 | Comments: Hillonne Duym (1897-1975) was born in the village of Herzele, province Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium. His father worked for the belgian railroad and moved a quite number of times. Around 1914, they lived in Kortenberg where he met his future wife, Marie-Louise Baets (1896-1987). During the first world war, he was in the resistance but arrested in 1917, he spended 11 months in prison until the end of the war. This picture was taken in 1919. He then started working as an architect and married Marie-Louise in 1921. In 1928, their only son, Andreas, was born. During the second world war he was also active in the resistance but he was not caught. After the war, he helped as an architect in the reconstruction of the destroyed areas at the belgian coast.
