Comments: George Kramer (Nee: ) | Erie PA United States | 1921-1940 | Comments: George Kramer came to Lancaster, PA, before entry of the United States into WW1. His purpose was to avoid being drafted into the German army. His uncle was a Kunzler who ran a butcher business in Lancaster. He boarded with my grandparents; both he and my grandfather were threatened with lynching after the USA entered the war against Germany, despite the fact that he was a pacifist. A brother died in the sinking of a German U-boat, which left him heartbroken. My father remembered him as a very kind person who enjoyed poetry and literature.
