Comments: Civi l War Soldier (Nee: ) | USA | 1851-1900 | Comments: Young Civil War soldier. Possibly Bradford C. Hallett. Photo was found among pictures of Hoover, Jenkins and Whitely families. The only clue is the word "Grandma" written on the back. If this is Hallett, he was born in Pennsylvania circa 1841 and died in North Carolina's Salisbury Confederate Prison on 11 Jan 1865. He is buried in one of the prison's mass graves. He had married the former Mary C. WHITELY on 27 July 1861 and fathered two sons: Charles HALLETT (b.14 Jan 1863) and George Bradford HALLETT (b.9 Oct 1864; d. 9 April 1887). Bradford C. HALLETT was living in Danby, Tompkins County, New York at the time of his enlistment in Company I, 179th Regiment, N.Y. Volunteers on 10 Sep 1864 and was captured at Poplar Church on 30 Sep 1864.
