Comments: Thomas Andrew Knight (Nee: ) | England | 1835-1850 | Comments: This picture of Thomas Andrew Knight appears on page 2 of The American Breeders Magazine, vol.IV, no.1, 1913. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 1-4 of that volume. Please see that reference for more details. Richard Knight's son was also named Richard Knight (a wealthy industrialist and iron merchant). Richard had a son who then had a son: Thomas Andrew Knight. Thomas Andrew Knight was born in England in 1759 the youngest of four children (2 boys, 2 girls). Thomas Andrew Knight married Frances Felton. They settled in Elton, purchased a farm and then he threw himself into the study of horticulture and biological problems, especially vegetable physiology. He also bred livestock. In 1797 he took a part in the organization of an agricultural society in Herefordshire. He was a shy man but had many friends working in science. He died in 1838. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
