Dead Fred's Genealogy Photo Archive, a free, fun photo genealogy research web site devoted to helping you visualize your heritage!

Dear readers,

We need your help. 90% of our expenses are covered by donations averaging $10, though not many visitors contribute. If each visitor reading this right now gave $2, we would have enough to operate DeadFred for a year. That's right, the price of a bottle of soda would do it. If DeadFred is helpful to you, please take a moment to help us. We are a very small group of volunteers serving thousands of readers daily with very little outside support. DeadFred is a place to share and discover the faces of your ancestors. The funds we receive go toward maintaining and improving your chances of discovery. Please help us so we can continue to help you.

Thank you,
Joe Bott

Comments: John Dryden (Nee: ) | Ontario Canada | 1851-1900 | Comments: This picture of John Dryden appears on page 5 of The American Breeders Magazine, vol.II, no.1, 1911. Please see that reference for more details. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 6,8 of that volume. Mr. Dryden was born in 1840 and was a native of the Province of Ontario, Canada. He became a successful farmer near Toronto, Canada. He was a noted livestock breeder and is known especially for his work with shorthorn cattle and Shropshire Sheep. He served as president of the American Shropshire Registry Association and as president of the Dominion Shorthorn Breeders Association. He was minister of agriculture for Ontario from 1890 to 1906. He died in 1909. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
