Comments: Robert Bakewell (Nee: ) | England | 1901-1920 | Comments: This picture of Robert Bakewell appears on page 161 of The American Breeders Magazine, vol.1, no.3, 1910. Please see that reference for more details. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 160-162 of that volume. Robert was born in 1725 and died in 1794. He was born at Dishley, Leicestershire, England. He was primarily a breeder of sheep but also worked with horses, swine and cattle. The portrait shown here was loaned to the American Breeders Association by Mr. Richard Gibson of Delaware, Ontario, Canada who also seemed knowledgeable about the facts of Mr. Bakewell's life. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
