Comments: William Henry Boyd (Nee: ) | United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: This portrait of General William Henry Boyd appears in the front of "Boyd's Directory of Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Canandaigua and Geneva, 1888/1889." He was born 14 July 1825 and died at Washington D.C. 7 October 1887. W. H. Boyd had been in the directory business for some years and taught it to his younger brother Andrew Boyd. W. H. Boyd raised a cavalry company for the American Civil War and was a Captain, Major, Colonel (21st PA Cav.) and breveted a Brigadier General. He was wounded at Cold Hardor 3 June 1864 and carried the ball (bullet) in his neck for six months. He returned to the directory business in 1866.
