Also posted on Deadfred is a portrait of Thomas' wife, Abigail. Thomas was born in Boston, Mass. on Nov. 13th, 1783. He had a sister named Lydia. He came to Canandaigua, NY in 1803. As a young man he earned the nickname "Deacon" for always acting sober. In March 1805 he married Abigail Field. He was a teacher for a time and later was in the mercantile business. He later became treasurer of the Ontario Savings Bank. In April 1864 he visited New York City and during his return became ill and injured his knee. He died Saturday, 30 May 1864 and was buried on 2 May 1864.
