He joined the Confederacy on Feb. 4, 1862 as a Pvt. in Company A, of the Texas 32nd Cavlary. On Mar. 7, 1865, he married Julia Malone Bankston, daughter of James and Lavisa ''McDonald'' Bankston. Coleman died sometime after 1893 and Julia died in 1887.
