Comments: Hoy Crease (Nee: ) | Great Britain | 1921-1940 | Comments: This picture is found in an album belonging to John Dobson, who immigrated from England to the US in the 1840's/'50's and eventually settled in Chehalis, Washington Territory where he became a successful businessman (Coffman & Dobson Bank) and hops grower. His first wife and daughter were drowned in 1881 trying to cross the flooded Chehalis River. Her name was Hannah and she was going to visit relatives, the DEVLINS.
Later, Dobson married again and my grandmother as a young girl came to live with Mr and Mrs Dobson as a "helper". Dobson himself was tragically killed by a cable car in San Francisco in about 1906. Mrs D. remarried and gave the album to my grandmother.
It is inscribed first, "John Dobson Chehalish, Wash. My Album" and on the second page:
"R.H. Brown Nov-16-1866 from her Affectionate Grandmama."
I know nothing about the people in the album, the only one named is this fella Hoy Crease. Just want to see it returned to the right families. Pat
