Comments: Lillie Mary Bailey (Nee: Curtis) | Baltimore City MD United States | | Comments: This 1934 oil portrait (deteriorating) of Lillie Mary Curtis Bailey was one of 2 painted by artist Florence Riefle Bahr (search "Bahr"). Like James Emory (search "Emory"), Lillie worked for the James H. Riefle household (search "Riefle") as a cook and maid. Lillie was born Oct. 31, 1905 to Ollie and Rose Curtis of Chaptico, MD. She came to Baltimore in 1930, became an active member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Ch., and joined the Ladies Auxiliary #165 Knights of St. John (at age 27). In 1947, she married Berline Bailey. And like James Emory, she was an integral part of the Riefle family and beloved by all. Lillie was a faith-filled Christian and died March 8, 1990.
