Comments: Naomi (Nee: ) | Glace Bay Nova Scotia Canada | | Comments: This photo along with hundreds of others (I believe from the same family)was purchased at Value Village. I know from a little research that the town this family lived in was Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. They mined coal there until the fourties or fifties I think. Now the town is very small and few people remain as coal is not in demand anymore. I believe the family must have moved from there to Hamilton Ontario, or close by, as this is where the photo's were found. They lived on the main street across from a store named Thompson & Sutherland. I hate to see these photos just thrown away and would very much like to see them reunited with their rightful owners. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me if you can identify these people. Thanks!
Feb 11 2006: I have also found out that Glace Bay was a thriving jewish community that the coal companies lured them for free admittion to Canada as long as they worked mining coal. Most didn't do it long or at all and stayed in this area setting up businesses. I believe the people in the picture are Jewish, and the one girls name is Naomi. Hope that helps!
