Comments: Jake Albertson (Nee: ) | IA United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: eBay find ... NOTE: I am not related to this family, but just posting some genealogical information I ran across with the hope it will help others. **
Currently (9/16/2004) there is a photo album posted on eBay which has various photographs of the Albertson and Maurice families living in IA and ties to PA. In the photo album is a Civil War photograph of a Union soldier and the written identification on it says, "Uncle Jake Albertson." It is probable that this is a brother or uncle of Sarah (Albertson) Maurice (I have posted photographs of she and her husband here separately) . There are several soldiers that enlisted with the surname "Albertson" and a location of Langworthy, Iowa which is the postal area the Albertson family lived in during that time in Jones County, Wayne Twp. One soldier is "John Albertson" and it is possible that Jake was his nickname?
I did a little census research and you will find several related Albertson families living in Jones County, IA on the 1860 and 1870 census where I'm sure this Jake Albertson will connect.
The eBay listing states there are a total of 28 photographs and tin types in the album, but these were the only 3 described and shown.
I hope this helps someone fill in some missing pieces for their family!
