Comments: Herman Jakob (Nee: ) | Germany | 1851-1900 | Comments: I believe that the man standing second from the left is my great-grandfather Herman Jakob (Jacob), (born 16 October 1861; died 15 May 1936). Herman immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri around 1881 probably from Stuttgart, Germany. For the first few years he lived in St. Louis he lived with Ernst Jakob. This picture was in the possession of Herman's son, Arthur, and on the back is written "H. Jackobs, 2116 Madison" one of Herman's earliest addresses in St. Louis. Herman was a cigar-maker by trade, and he played the zither for amusement. He married Annie Wirth of Knittlingen, Wurttemberg, Germany, in St. Louis, Missouri on 20 July, 1886.
I believe this picture was taken in Germany, before Herman left, and might be all of the family he left behind. Do any of these people look familiar?
