I don't think he worked at this trade very long. He received a patent for a photographic accessory in 1888. I have never seen an add where he was a photographer. I think most of his photos are of my family of Gomber's . Plus Joseph Gomber actually lived in Lake, which is now on the south side of Milwaukee.

Among The Artists
Joseph C. Gomber, a portrait painter, has a piece on exhibition at Riemer's, representing one of his own little girls. He is now engaged reproducing a small tin-type on the canvas. A picture he painted of Jac. Kopf was quite satisfactory to that gentleman, who is foreman of hook-and-ladder truck No. 3. Gomber expects to paint a sketch as soon as he finds time from his professional duties. He has in his office original portraits of Columbus and Muritlo. He was in Los Angeles by 1900.
